What Injuries Are Common in Car Accidents in Ralston, NE?
Car accidents in Ralston can cause whiplash, neck and back injuries, broken bones, head injuries, concussions, or cuts and bruises. Some injuries are minor, while others can be serious and take longer to heal.
Even if you feel fine, some symptoms may not appear until hours or days after the crash. Pain and swelling can develop gradually, making it harder to recognize an injury right away. Getting checked by a doctor can help identify problems early and ensure you receive proper treatment.
Because Nebraska is an at-fault state, you may seek compensation from the liability insurer of the driver responsible for the accident. If that driver has no insurance or insufficient coverage, your uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage may help, depending on your policy and Nebraska law.
To support your claim, keep copies of your medical records, treatment bills, and photographs of your injuries. These documents can help show what treatment you needed, how much it cost, and how your injuries affected your recovery.
Depending on your injuries, you may be able to recover compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. The amount you can recover depends on the severity of your injuries and how the accident has affected your daily life.
Under Nebraska law, you generally have four years to file a personal injury lawsuit based on negligence. However, some claims have different deadlines or exceptions. If you miss the deadline that applies to your case, you could lose your right to seek compensation in court.
If your injuries need ongoing treatment, a
car accident lawyer can gather the medical records that support your claim. An attorney can also handle the conversations with the insurance company for you.
