Lincoln, NE (July 1, 2026) – Two people suffered serious injuries on Tuesday night, June 30, after a suspected racing collision involving three vehicles on O Street and 33rd Street in Lincoln. Emergency units responded shortly after 10 p.m. after receiving a report of a multi-vehicle wreck. Police said a Ford F-150 and a Ford Escape were traveling westbound side by side at high speeds before the crash. At the same time, an Acura was turning eastbound onto 33rd Street. The front of the F-150 struck the rear passenger side of the Acura, causing the Acura to spin into the intersection. According to the Lincoln Police Department ’s report, the F-150’s speedometer was stuck at 87 mph after the crash. The Escape’s speedometer was stuck at 96 mph. Crews closed O Street between 27th and 35th streets while they worked at the scene, and the road later reopened. The 16-year-old driver of the Escape suffered a broken leg, a broken rib, and a shattered knee. Officials said the teen was later moved to the ICU. The 23-year-old passenger in the Acura suffered a broken leg, ankle, arm, and hip, and later left the hospital against medical advice.
