Who Can Be Held Liable for a Semi-Truck Crash in Murray, NE?
The truck driver, trucking company, vehicle owner, cargo-loading company, maintenance provider, or parts manufacturer may be liable for a semi-truck crash in Murray. Responsibility depends on the actions or failures that contributed to the collision and the harm that followed.
When more than one company is involved, several insurance policies may provide coverage. Policy limits, exclusions, and business agreements can affect which insurer pays for a particular loss, even when responsibility for the crash is clear in the same claim process.
After the crash, photographs, driver logs, inspection reports, electronic vehicle data, and the police report may help show what happened. Because trucking companies may retain some records for only a limited time, early preservation requests can prevent valuable evidence from being lost.
Under Nebraska’s comparative-negligence rule, you generally cannot recover compensation if you are 50% or more at fault. If your share of responsibility is lower, your compensation decreases by that percentage. Insurers may dispute that percentage during negotiations.
Depending on your losses, compensation may cover medical expenses, lost wages, reduced earning ability, property damage, pain, and long-term limitations. The value of your case depends on how the crash affected your health, work, finances, and daily life.
When fault is disputed, a
truck accident lawyer can gather evidence, communicate with insurers, meet filing deadlines, and represent you in negotiations or court. This support can make it easier to manage the legal process while you focus on your recovery.
