Leigh, NE (November 6, 2026) – A 21-year-old woman from Humphrey died after two vehicles met nearly head-on on 563rd Avenue, about seven miles northwest of Leigh.
The collision happened around 7:44 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, at the crest of a hill on the county road.
The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said an SUV was heading south when it struck a northbound sedan. The sedan's driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and her two daughters, who were riding in the SUV, were not wearing restraints. All three were taken to Faith Health in Norfolk. The driver was later moved to an Omaha hospital for more treatment, while the girls were treated in Norfolk.
