Man Seriously Injured by Crane on E Nucor Rd in Norfolk, NE
Norfolk, NE (August 25, 2026) – A 54-year-old man was seriously injured in a crane-related workplace accident at Nucor Steel, 2911 East Nucor Road, in Norfolk on Tuesday, August 25. The incident was reported at about 10 a.m.
According to the
Stanton County Sheriff’s Office, part of the crane was on top of the man before it was lifted off him.
Emergency units arrived shortly afterward. Nucor’s emergency team cared for the man until Norfolk Fire and Rescue personnel arrived.
A LifeNet helicopter crew left the plant at about 10:50 a.m. and took the man to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha with crush injuries.
The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration likely would investigate how the workplace accident occurred.
We hope the injured man makes a full and swift recovery.
What Are My Legal Options After a Workplace Accident in Norfolk, NE?
After a workplace accident in Norfolk, you may be able to receive workers’ compensation benefits and, if someone other than your employer contributed to your injury, pursue a separate claim. Your options depend on the facts of the accident, the parties involved, and the coverage available.
After reporting the injury, follow your employer’s reporting process and provide notice as soon as possible. Prompt reporting can help start the claim process and reduce disputes about when, where, and how the injury occurred.
Once you receive initial medical care, follow each treatment recommendation and ask your provider about work restrictions. Your medical records can help show the treatment you need and whether the injury affects your ability to perform regular job duties.
For qualifying Nebraska work injuries, workers’ compensation may cover reasonable medical care and partial wage benefits. You generally do not need to prove your employer caused the accident, but the claim must meet the program’s requirements.
If a contractor, equipment manufacturer, or another outside party contributed to the injury, you may have a third-party claim. Unlike workers’ compensation, that type of claim may allow recovery for losses not covered through workplace benefits.
As your claim moves forward, keep your medical bills, work restrictions, pay records, and accident-related communications together. These records can help document your losses and answer questions from an insurer or another party involved.
Because workplace injuries may involve several responsible parties and insurance policies, a
workplace injury lawyer can review the facts and identify potential claims. An attorney can also explain how a third-party case could affect workers’ compensation benefits.
