Bicyclist Injured After Crash With Car on E Benjamin Ave in Norfolk, NE
Norfolk, NE (August 31, 2026) – A 66-year-old bicyclist was injured after colliding with a sedan on Saturday afternoon, August 29, on E Benjamin Ave in Norfolk, according to the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred about a quarter-mile east of the Highway 35 and Benjamin intersection. Authorities said the bicyclist was traveling westbound against traffic when the collision occurred with a sedan driven by a 17-year-old female who was turning left onto E Benjamin Ave from a private driveway.
The impact reportedly sent the bicyclist over the front of the car before he landed on the concrete pavement. Emergency personnel transported him to Faith Regional Health Services for medical treatment.
The driver of the sedan was not injured in the crash. Additional information about the bicyclist’s condition was not immediately available.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
We hope the injured person makes a full recovery.
What Should Bicyclists Know About Insurance After a Crash in Norfolk, NE?
After a bicycle crash in Norfolk, NE, an injured bicyclist may be able to seek coverage for medical expenses and other documented losses through applicable insurance policies. Understanding which coverage may apply can be important, particularly when a collision involves a motor vehicle. Reviewing these options early may also help identify the documentation needed to support a potential claim.
The process can begin by gathering the insurance information for the driver involved, if available, while also notifying the bicyclist’s own insurance company when appropriate. Depending on the circumstances and the policies involved, a bicyclist’s own auto insurance or other applicable coverage may potentially provide benefits even though the person was riding a bicycle. Keeping copies of policy information and claim communications can make it easier to track the process.
Because insurance coverage can vary, keeping documentation from the crash can help when a claim is submitted. Accident reports, photographs, witness contact information, medical records, vehicle or bicycle damage estimates, and communications with insurers can all help establish the circumstances and resulting losses. Organizing these materials as they become available can also make it easier to respond to requests for additional information.
As the claim progresses, a bicycle accident lawyer in Nebraska can review the available policies and explain how they may apply. An attorney may also examine medical expenses, lost income, bicycle repairs, and other documented losses when evaluating potential insurance claims. This can be particularly useful when questions arise about liability or the amount of available coverage, especially when multiple insurance policies could be involved.
